Apr 9, 2024

Nigeria - TechnoServe Nigeria and the Ministry of Finance are investigating the possibility of working together to improve the nation's food and nutrition security. The TechnoServe Nigeria team recently had the chance to present their programs and effects to the Ministry of Finance, with a focus on Nigeria.

With the private sector's engagement being a major area of interest for TechnoServe, the focus was on establishing common ground with the Ministry's aims, activities, and general policy direction surrounding food and nutrition security.

The TechnoServe delegation was headed by Ayodele Tella, senior program manager for food fortification, during their meeting with Minister of Finance Wale Edun.

Tella gave a thorough summary of TechnoServe's goals, prior successes, and established presence in Nigeria throughout the discussion.

She underlined their commitment to raising the standard of living and earnings of industrious people in marginalized communities throughout a variety of value chains. Their strategy is on helping communities establish robust farms and companies, providing business-oriented solutions to address poverty in the end.

Additionally, Tobi Durotoye, the deputy program director at TechnoServe, emphasized the food fortification initiatives his company has undertaken under the Inspiring Good Nutrition Initiative Through Enterprise (IGNITE) program.

He saw it as a chance for TechnoServe to learn important lessons from the Ministry's expertise. Edun agreed that it would be essential to take use of TechnoServe's experience in fields including high-value agricultural, food processing, and business development.

He said that by working together, "they would be able to address identified gaps and work together to lift people out of poverty."
